Wow. Just wow. A few days ago I'd blocked off the usual full day to show my locks some TLC. After spending roughly six hours 'shampooing' (really ACV rinsing), deep conditioning and blowdrying I was exhausted... and shocked!

It's been eight months since I've blow dried my hair. I normally do minitwists or other natural styles to let my hair air dry, so when I looked at the finished product in the mirror, my jaw dropped.

Where in da world did all this hair come from?! I snapped a picture and sent it to my sister. Her reaction was the same (except she told me I had to post it, but "don't look so weird." Sisters.)

Following her advice, I gave the best semi-serious smile I could given I'd just spent half a day's achieving this blowout:

I posted the picture then threw half of my hair up out of my face and headed out to get some other things knocked off my list that day. I'd already spent way more time than allotted, so I was in a crunch.

While out, I got lots of looks, which first made me think I'd steped off another planet. Finally someone bold enough to articulate a sentence and not just stare managed to muster up a few words. I don't remember what they said exactly, but they were very complimentary.

I've never worn a blowout in public so we'll see what the next day or so will reveal!

Update (1/10/16):

Oh. My. Goodness. Y'all are really showing out!! Since I posted my picture I've gotten dozens of shares, tens of thousands of likes and hundreds of questions!

Firstly, thank you! No, really. THANK YOU!!!

I've been so overwhelmed by the support and although I've not been able to catch up/respond as much as I've wanted (I'm overseas at this moment recording these thoughts), I do want you all to know how amazingly encouraging it is to get so much love from a photo of me with a bare face and bushy hair.

Not only that, but the message that it sends to others is to recognize that our own skin is what we have to be most comfortable in. So when I say "thank you," it's more than just for  a simple like or share.

All mush aside, I'm not a natural hair b/vlogger, but I definitely wanted to answer as many questions as I can!
